Field and Service Robotics

Area coordinator: Miguel Realpe Robalino
Members: Dennys F. Paillacho Chiluiza

This area is concerned with problems encountered when applying mobile robots in complex real environment in indoor/outdoor or other poorly structured and highly dynamic environments. This robots are distinguished by their approach to integration with the environment through sensors and actuators with real time capabilities.

Our group, in this line of research focuses on the study of methods and algorithms aimed at providing to a robot the information necessary to interact with the different actors within their environment and thus fulfill a specific task.

The main research challenges are:

  • Human-Robot interaction.
  • Social Robotics
  • Perception & Ambient Awareness.
  • Navigation systems.
  • Teleoperational systems.
